providing a focus for microtonal music in the UK

creating a melting pot of practice, debate and inspiration

uk microfest 3: 6-8 March 2009

Somewhat remarkably in these austere times, UKM is back in its third manifestation for March 2009, and we believe the programme is perhaps the finest yet. We return to the delightful riverhouse (who have become our partners) and, in addition to excellent UKM regulars, we have some exciting new names and faces.

We warmly welcome Pascale Criton as our principle guest this year. Pascale will be in residence throughout the festival, and on Sunday will give a keynote lecture. A concert of Pascale’s wonderfully evocative microtonal music, performed by the French ensemble Dédalus, will conclude the festival.

There will be 7 other world premiere performances and 6 UK premiere performances throughout the 3 days, including new work by Christopher Fox and Horatiu Radulescu.

The format of UKM3 is similar to previous years, with 5 concerts and a number of short presentations, the emphasis very much on practical applications of microtonality.

Festival directors: Donald Bousted and Kirsten Edwards
